SCALE CONTROL CONDITIONER INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE BARRIE ● ONTARIO ● CANADA 705.733.8900 WWW.EXCALIBURWATER.COM 1) INTRODUCTION The Soft-Tec® system control and prevent the scale without any usage of salt, chemicals and wastage of water. This manual must be read prior to installation and service of Soft-Tec® system. 2) INSTALLATION 2.1) Water Chemistry Requirements 2.2) Media Scale Control Process Soft-Tec® System transforms the dissolved calcium into undissolved calcium crystals which are not able to react and attach to the surface of pipes and appliances. The crystals which flows in piping and appliances also removes the existing scale which has been built up over years. Advantages: • Soft-Tec® do not remove the minerals from water • Removes the existing scale buildup • Do not use salt and regeneration water • Does not need drain and electrical connection • Can be installed where softeners have restrictions or bans. Parameter Limit Water Sample Results Hardness 0-75 GPG Iron 0 pH 7.0 – 11.5 Chlorine < 3.0 ppm Nitrates 0 Manganese 0 Sulphur 0 Phosphates 0 LSI > 0.0 Total Dissolved Solids Silica 20 ppm

SCALE CONTROL CONDITIONER INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE BARRIE ● ONTARIO ● CANADA 705.733.8900 WWW.EXCALIBURWATER.COM 2.3) General Installation and Service Warnings • The conditioner is designed so that it can be installed easily with minor plumbing changes at point of entry on previous plumbing. • The piping must be clamped properly and the weight of the plumbing must not be on the conditioner. • Do not use any kind of lubricant including silicone. A silicone based lubricant can be only used on black O-Rings but not necessary. • Do not use pipe dope or other sealant on plastic nuts. • The nuts can be fastened and unfastened by hand or the plastic service wrench. Do not use pipe wrench to tighten the caps and nuts. • Do not block access to main shut off, water meter and other equipment. 2.4) Pre-Treatment Chlorine level must be less than 3.0ppm. Use the chemical removal filter to reduce the Chlorine level if initial level is more than 3.0ppm. Iron, Manganese, Sulphur and Phosphate must be removed from water in pre-treatment. 2.5) Media Foulants 2.5.1) Iron, Sulphur and Manganese Contact of media with metals like Iron and Manganese can coat the media particles which reduces the active area of media particles. Hence reduces the scale prevention property of media by overtime. 2.5.2) Copper In new copper plumbing, copper can be introduced in flowing water until the protective layer has been coated by itself. Usually the protective layer (patina) is formed in 60 days. 2.6) Site Requirements • Water Pressure: - 30-100 psi • Water Temperature: - 36-122°F (2-50°C) • The tank should be installed vertically on firm level surface WARNING For new copper plumbing wait for 60 days to build up a protective layer in pipes prior to Soft-Tec® installation

SCALE CONTROL CONDITIONER INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE BARRIE ● ONTARIO ● CANADA 705.733.8900 WWW.EXCALIBURWATER.COM 2.11) Installation Instructions 1) The water heater’s inlet must be at least 10ft away from conditioner. 2) The unit must be located in a room temperature above 33° F. 3) If vacuum occurrence is expected, then the vacuum breaker must be installed at the inlet of the conditioner 4) The unit must not be exposed to direct sunlight. Ultraviolet rays can damage the system 5) The primer, solder or solder flux must not get on the O-rings while installation. 6) After soldering the lines must be cooled before installing the O-Rings, nuts and caps. 7) If the electrical system is grounded to the plumbing, then a copper strap must be connected between inlet and outlet as shown in figure. 8) The plumbing must be done by following the local plumbing codes. 9) Do not install any device, downstream of Soft-Tec® which requires removal of scale. 10) Do not install any anti-scalant upflow of the Soft-Tec® system. 11) Soft-Tec® system must always be the last stage of treatment chain. 12) If heavy dirt and debris has been tested or expected in future, then 20-micron sediment filter should be installed in pre-treatment. 13) If booster pump is required always install the pump upstream of the system. Installer Notes: 1) The Soft-Tec® systems are supposed to be very light weight as compared to conventional softeners. 2) Follow the installation drawing for plumbing instructions. 3) The system must be installed vertically straight but can be shipped in any orientation. 3) SPECIFICATIONS Model Number1 Mineral Tank Media ft3 (Liters) Flow Space Required Shipping Weight Dia X Height Soft-Tec® FlexBed GPM (LPS) LxWxH LBS EWS NSP0844 8X44 0.13 (4) 0.08 (2.3) 10.0 (0.63) 14x9x48 25 EWS NSB0844 8x44 0.13 (4) 0.08 (2.3) 10.0 (0.63) 14x9x48 27 1: - EWS NSP0844 is Premium Model and EWS NSB0844 is Superior Model

SCALE CONTROL CONDITIONER INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE BARRIE ● ONTARIO ● CANADA 705.733.8900 WWW.EXCALIBURWATER.COM 3.1) Bypass Valve NORMAL OPERATION The inlet and outlet handles of bypass valve should be pointing towards the direction of flow. Inlet is labelled on tank head as Upflow inlet. Water flows upflow through the conditioner in normal operation. BYPASS OPERATION The inlet and outlet handles point away from the bypass valve. The system is isolated from the water pressure in the plumbing system. Untreated water is supplied to the house in this position. Note: - Use this bypass operation while servicing the system SHUT OFF MODE (Only Demand) The outlet handle points away from the bypass valve and the inlet handle points in the direction of flow, the water is stopped going to the plumbing system. If water is available on the outlet side of the Filter, it is an indication of water bypass around the system. Caution: - This mode does not stop the pressure going into the tank.

SCALE CONTROL CONDITIONER INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE BARRIE ● ONTARIO ● CANADA 705.733.8900 WWW.EXCALIBURWATER.COM 3.2) Start Up Instructions • Keep the bypass valve in bypass operation by moving both handles pointing away from center of bypass valve. • Open the main water supply valve, now the untreated water is being supplied to house. Open the faucet downstream of the conditioner. The initial water coming out of faucet can be dirty because of installation debris. Now inspect the plumbing for leaks. • Shut off the main water supply valve and turn the bypass valve handles to service position. • Fully open the faucet downstream of the conditioner. Slowly open the main water supply valve to just ¼ way open. The water pressure is released into the tank and the air should come out of the faucet. • Fully close the faucet once all the air has been removed from the tank and then again turn the bypass valve handles to bypass position. Now fully open the main water supply valve to soak the media for 60 minutes • After the soaking period of 60 minutes, turn the bypass valve handles into the direction of service operation. To flush the media, open the single bath tub faucet or 3 sink faucets to reach flow rate of 5 GPM for 5 minutes. • Shut the bath faucet off and open one sink faucet ¼ way open to approximately reach 0.5 GPM for 60 minutes in order to slow rinse the system. • Now, The system is ready to be used normally. 3.3) Usage Instructions for first 90 days • The water flowing through the Soft-Tec® system will be able to remove the buildup scale so the water for first 90 days may be milky. • Faucet aerators may need to be cleaned because the scale which has been removed from pipes can be trapped in aerators and leads to pressure drop. Repeat the process until the scale is completely flushed and milky water is not coming anymore. • For the beginning time when scale is being removed, dishes washed in dishwasher may have a calcium spots. To stop this temporary calcium spotting add a cup of household vinegar to the rinse cycle. • The water heater should be drained once 30 to 60 days after the installation of Soft-Tec® system.
