Excalibur Filtermax™ Tannin Filters Brochure

The Filtermax ™ Tannin Filter removes tannins from your water supply with an anion resin. Through a process called ion exchange, the negatively charged anion resin acts as a magnet, causing positively charged tannins stick to it , allowing only clean water to enter your home. During the process of regeneration, water softening salt is turned into a liquid brine. This liquid brine flows through the system, rinsing the resin, and replacing tannin with sodium ions. The brine solution and tannin is then sent to drain and your system resumes normal operation. Tannins are not considered a health concern, but they can cause yellow staining on clothing and fixtures as well as an unpleasant appearance and taste to your drinking water. Tannins are a headache because they're an aesthetic problem and because they can't be penetrated by other water purification systems. This means that if you use an ultraviolet sterilizer in your home, tannins would render it useless. Are Tannins Dangerous? How Are Tannins Removed?
