3 SCALE CONTROL CONDITIONER INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE BARRIE ● ONTARIO ● CANADA 705.733.8900 WWW.EXCALIBURWATER.COM 2.3) General Installation and Service Warnings • The conditioner is designed so that it can be installed easily with minor plumbing changes at point of entry on previous plumbing. • The piping must be clamped properly and the weight of the plumbing must not be on the conditioner. • Do not use any kind of lubricant including silicone. A silicone based lubricant can be only used on black O-Rings but not necessary. • Do not use pipe dope or other sealant on plastic nuts. • The nuts can be fastened and unfastened by hand or the plastic service wrench. Do not use pipe wrench to tighten the caps and nuts. • Do not block access to main shut off, water meter and other equipment. 2.4) Pre-Treatment Chlorine level must be less than 3.0ppm. Use the chemical removal filter to reduce the Chlorine level if initial level is more than 3.0ppm. Iron, Manganese, Sulphur and Phosphate must be removed from water in pre-treatment. 2.5) Media Foulants 2.5.1) Iron, Sulphur and Manganese Contact of media with metals like Iron and Manganese can coat the media particles which reduces the active area of media particles. Hence reduces the scale prevention property of media by overtime. 2.5.2) Copper In new copper plumbing, copper can be introduced in flowing water until the protective layer has been coated by itself. Usually the protective layer (patina) is formed in 60 days. 2.6) Site Requirements • Water Pressure: - 30-100 psi • Water Temperature: - 36-122°F (2-50°C) • The tank should be installed vertically on firm level surface WARNING For new copper plumbing wait for 60 days to build up a protective layer in pipes prior to Soft-Tec® installation
